Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool is a program for children of all abilities. Peachtree supports inclusion because we support the rights of all children, regardless of their abilities, to participate actively in natural settings within their communities. We believe this type of learning is most effective for both typical children and children with special needs.
Consistent with this belief, Peachtree has partnered with the Adaptive Learning Center (ALC) since 2002 to provide the Inclusive Preschool Program. Each year the Preschool offers spaces in regular classrooms for children with disabilities and special needs who are also served by the ALC. These children participate fully in an inclusive classroom with support from special education support teachers provided by ALC.
Through their experience at the Preschool, children learn to respect and value the differences among people. Our goal for all children is to emphasize the value of differences rather than the stigma associated with disability.
