class information for 2011-2012
The Preschool is in session Monday through Friday from September until May. Each school day begins at 8:45 a.m. and concludes at 12:15 p.m.
two-year-olds
Children must be two by August 31, 2011, to register for the Two-year-old classes. The classes meet two days per week (Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday). Two-year-old classes have a 12:2 student-teacher ratio.
Children who will be three between September 1, 2011, and December 31, 2011, may register for the three day Two-year-old classes. These classes meet Monday/Wednesday/Friday and have a 12:2 student-teacher ratio.
three-year-olds
Children who will be three by August 31, 2011, may register for two day classes (Tuesday/Thursday) or three day classes (Monday/Wednesday/Friday). The classes have a 12:2 student-teacher ratio.
Children who will be four between September 1, 2011, and December 31, 2011, may register for the five day Three-year-old classes (Monday-Friday). These classes have a 14:2 student-teacher ratio.
Three-year-old classrooms are not equipped for diaper changing.
pre-k
Children who will be four by August 31, 2011, may register for the three day classes (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) or five day classes (Monday-Friday). The classes have a 16:2 student-teacher ratio.
Children who will be five by August 31, 2011, may register for the Five/Six classes. The classes meet until 1:15 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Dismissal remains at 12:15 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and when Splendid Day is not in session. The classes have a 18:2 student-teacher ratio.
staff
Teachers at the Preschool have experience in early childhood education. Co-teachers or a lead teacher and an assistant teacher are assigned to each classroom. Teachers participate in a variety of workshops, conferences and seminars as professional education throughout the year.
Teachers are available to discuss a child's progress with parents on an as needed basis. Specific discussions take place during Parent/Teacher conversations which are scheduled twice a year.
class assignments
In creating class groupings, consideration is given to boy/girl ratio; age range is considered for Two-year-old and Three-year-old class placement.
Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool does not honor teacher requests or class placement requests from parents.
The Preschool will place twins in the same class unless the Director is notified in writing by June 1, 2011, of the parent's desire to separate them.
