curriculum

The Preschool curriculum is keyed to the developmental needs of its children, recognizing the uniqueness of each child and striving to meet his or her individual needs. The primary goal of the Preschool is to create an environment in which each child can grow spiritually, physically, socially, cognitively, emotionally, and as a result of his or her educational experience, begin developing an enjoyment of learning, and positive attitudes toward school. Inspired by current research, the work of Mel Levine (All Kinds of Minds), and the preschools of Reggio Emilia; Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool believes that all children are competent learners and it is our responsibility to give them the environment to support that belief. Through the use of Long Term Projects, Handwriting Without Tears, Math Their Way, Pre-literacy development skills such as Auditory and Phonemic Awareness, we strive to support these goals. Resource classes are offered weekly.

All students attend Music and Creative Movement. Most Three Year Old classes attend Chapel and are visited by the Letter Lady. Most Pre-K classes and 5/6 classes attend Chapel, Drama, Letter Lady, and Library.

A curriculum guide for each age is available for review. In addition, age group curriculum meetings, for parents, are held throughout the school year.

The Preschool seeks to provide the highest standard of early childhood education. Enrollment in Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool should not be considered an aid to or guarantee of acceptance to any subsequent school.
