The Preschool is pleased to have Stacy Jacobson, MS, OTR/L (founder of Peachtree Occupational Therapy) on the staff. As a part of the services offered by the Preschool, Stacy provides routine screenings and small group therapy during the school day. All children in the Five/Six classes are screened, and children in the Pre-K, Three-year-old, and Two-year-old classes are screened upon referral. The areas assessed during the screening include: visual perception, fine motor, visual motor, and gross motor skills. If an area of difficulty is identified, small group therapy that focuses on these motor areas may be recommended. In January, Stacy will begin OT groups for students in the Pre-K and Five/Six classes.
Stacy is also available on a private client basis for occupational therapy evaluations, individual therapy and additional groups to children who attend this school as well as to other children in the community. Kindergarten Readiness is Stacy’s group for children age 4-6 who would benefit from additional exposure and practice with writing, fine motor, visual motor, and visual perceptual activities. The Handwriting Without Tears approach will be used to introduce, teach, and practice letter formation. Yoga Adventures is a creative and engaging class that combines yoga and sensory integration techniques. Using animated poses, stretches, games, relaxation techniques, and much more, Yoga Adventures stimulates the imagination while strengthening the body. Please contact Stacy directly for group fees and additional information: sjacobson@peachtreepresbyterianpreschool.org.
